I made the decision in 2009 to start a motorcycle courier business based in Kingston upon Hull which would operate as a rapid response same day courier service. At that time there were no other motorcycle couriers operating in the area but I knew various people had tried in the past and had not made a success of it. I had recent experience of working as a medical courier so had a good idea of what was involved in the job but had never run my own business. Luckily I enjoy a challenge because I soon realised that there were dozens of decisions to make and a lot of money to lay out before I could even advertise my services. Three years later I am confident in my business model and any adjustments I need to make are minor. I soon realised that the driving is the easy part of the job and it is just as important to be good at marketing or financial matters. To anyone who wants to work as a motorcycle courier in Hull I say good luck but don't expect it to be easy money.
